I Really Suck at Blogging

Apparently I'm really bad at all forms of communication/social media. Oh well, what can you do? Here's what happened during the week while I neglected my poor little blog:

1. Balade au Chocolat + Girls' Night Out:
Last Saturday, I got a free ticket for a walking tour of some of the most famous/best chocolatiers in Paris. What more could a girl ask for? I spent two hours walking around Paris and tasting some of the best chocolate ever with some friends from IES.

Best hot chocolate I've ever tasted!
Saturday night, my friends wanted to check out the Paris night scene, so we had a girls' night out at Café Oz, a dance/bar thing. Normally "clubbing" isn't exactly my style, but it was actually pretty fun. We danced (note: my definition of dancing is bobbing up and down from the knees while making stupid faces...) for probably three or four hours before struggling to find a cab home for my friend Lyn. Apparently everybody in Paris wants to take a taxi home at four am as opposed to the night bus.

This guy photo-bombed like a pro!

2. Jump ahead to Tuesday, which was pretty much the most exciting day of my life! I got to go to an FC Barcelona v. Paris St. Germain football game! It was so amazing and of course I was team Barça all the way! (Sorry PSG) The atmosphere of the stadium was great and the fans were hilarious and super loud! It was kind of how I would imagine Lambeau Field to be during a Green Bay Packers game. Anyways, the best part about being at the game was knowing that I was watching Lionel Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, and all of my other favorite players live in action and not on a television screen. The upsetting part was that security made me check my real camera so I had to resort to using my iPhone for pictures. :/

Me and my friend, Irena. Clearly I was excited.

See if you can find Messi (I don't even know if he's in this picture).

Literally all these pictures look the same.

3. Friday, I took an excursion to Versailles with my program. I had already been there once with my family but I was just as wow'd by the beauty and grandeur of the castle and the gardens the second time around. My favorite part of the whole property, though, is the Domaine de Marie Antoinette. All the little cottages, the open land, the river, the waterfall, just seem so peaceful and everything is really beautiful. If I didn't have to pay for the RER ride out to the Château, I would totally come to Versailles every weekend to do my homework and just chill out.

Hey! That wasn't there last time!

THEY HAD BUNNIES!!

AND COWS!!

Orange juiced freshly squeezed from oranges picked from Versailles trees.
4. Today, my host mom took me to the market of Boulogne-Billancourt, which happens every Wednesday and Saturday, because I was in some desperate need of new shoes. Turns out, this market had EVERYTHING! I was amazed at how much stuff there was. From shoes to handbags to clothes to produce to kitchen supplies to little 1 euro "stocking stuffers". The prices were super cheap, too! I got two pairs of Vans style shoes for a grand total of 5 euros. I also bought two (big) bell peppers, six carrots, and two, plump, juicy tomatoes for 2 euros and 53 centime. I was really impressed. Good job market. Good job.

Once we got back from the market, my host mom helped me make my first quiche, which was super easy to do, and I must say, it was pretty tasty!

Then, I met my friend Laetitia at the Parc des Buttes Chaumont for a run. We wound up running/exploring around the park for an hour. I was honestly so surprised at the sheer size of the park and everything it had to offer. It made me realize that you can find literally everything in Paris. It really is the most perfect city on the planet (aside from the number of smokers).

I'm sorry, what? There's a waterfall/cliff thing in this Parisian park?

I am literally as pink as my t-shirt.

I gained ten pounds just looking at this beautiful tart.

Tonight is La Nuit Blanche, when museums are open and free to the public all night long, so I'll probably go to some exhibitions with my friends. Hopefully there will be some cool stuff to see, and hopefully it doesn't rain on us all night long. That's it for now.
